"Welt der Wunder" is recognized as one of the most innovative edutainment magazines in Germany. For the reader, what would be more interesting than having articles augmented by videos and animations and using the just acquired knowledge in a quiz? In cooperation with "Welt der Wunder", metaio created an Augmented Reality application which includes all of these features.
Based on the junaio Plugin metaio developed and implemented a multi-level Augmented Reality quiz for iPhone/iPad, that makes the magazine truly interactive. Furthermore the reader can watch several article-related videos and 3D models using his device. Additionally every Intel ad banner is connected with an AR interaction. Providing this, the application is not just an added value for the readers, but also an innovative advertising channel for "Welt der Wunder".
"Welt der Wunder" is the first magazine to use AR contineously within every issue since the launch back in May 2011. Based on a growing community of 'AR-Readers' the magazine successfully implemented an Ad-business to pay for further investements into AR. "Welt der Wunder" just announced that AR will be part of their strategy over the complete year of 2012.
"We know that our readers have a high smartphone affinity. Thererfore, as the first edutainment in Germany, we decided to apply Augmented Reality into our editorial and ad-contents"
Uwe Bokelmann, Chief Editor at "Welt der Wunder"
"The creative possibilities that arise from the combination of print and Augmented Reality are various. I am happy that, as one of the first magazines within Bauer Media Group, "Welt der Wunder" combines print & mobile in an intelligent way. Doing that we strengthen our position as an creative and unconventional advertising medium."
