Company & Challenge
The popular German television show “Galileo” of ProSieben presents, in collaboration with junaio, the world’s first truly interactive TV broadcast. Viewers should be able to actively participate and respond to questions in a quiz, get individual feedback on their results and compare their performance with that of other viewers.
On January 25th, the viewers of the German TV show “Galileo” could participate in the interactive Galileo Smart - Next Level Quiz. Using metaio’s mobile Augmented Reality Browser junaio, users could hold their phones up to the screen during the broadcast to participate in the quiz. The pre-formulated answers were detected via markerless tracking and interactive buttons appeared on the Smartphone screens.
The users could answer the questions in one click and got direct feedback if their answers were correct or not.
“Galileo” was number one in German twitter trends and ratings shot up to 14% in market share among 14 to 49 year old viewers. More than 40,000 unique users took part in the augmented quiz. Furthermore, junaio was the Number 1 application in the German iPhone App Store for three days.
